Project TitleNovel Carbazoles Modulators of Cannabinoid Receptors
Track Code2010-003
Short DescriptionNone
Abstract

Potent modulators of both cannabinoid receptors CB1 and/or CB2 can be used for the treatment of pain, obesity associated disorders, skin diseases or addiction. A series of carbazole and carboine analogues tested in vitro for cannabinoid receptor CB2 activities showed either agonist or antagonist activity. The identified modulators can be used to better treat and prevent neuropathic pain or obesity associated disorders, and to better understand the mechanisms of neuropathic pain and obesity related disorders.

Technology Overview

One the many uses of this technology is the treatment of dermatitis. Existing dermatitis treatment requires use of products based on corticoids and immunomodulators which have harmful side effects. This technology adopts a traditional approach for neuropathic pain treatment as a topical ointment which seeks to replace corticoid treatments for dermatitis.
